Rick and Morty Season 8: Still Squanchin' or Losing Its Juice?

After a long wait and a major voice cast shakeup, Rick and Morty Season 8 has landed—and it's as weird, meta, and multiverse-warped as ever. But does it still deliver the goods?
New Voices, Same Chaos?
With Justin Roiland no longer voicing the titular duo, there was a lot of buzz (and worry) going into this season. But guess what? The new voice actors settle in surprisingly well. The replacements are uncannily close to the originals, and by episode two, most fans will probably stop noticing the difference. Credit to the production team for making a smooth transition without derailing the show's tone or identity.
Storytelling: More Arcs, Less Random?
Season 8 continues the show’s move toward more serialized storytelling, while still dipping into the absurd, one-off multiverse romps we know and love. There’s a stronger sense of continuity—especially with Rick Prime and the long-teased “evil Morty” threads. And yet, there’s still plenty of room for interdimensional cable-type chaos and fourth-wall-breaking nonsense.
Episode Highlights
Without giving too much away, a few standout episodes include:
"Beths of the Future Past" – an emotional time-travel story with layered family drama.
"Morty's Law" – a hilariously dystopian satire of justice systems and morality.
"The Council Reboots" – brings back major lore and ups the stakes big time.
